— done right.
Edinburgh engagement photographer — pre-wedding shoots & secret proposals.
The work
An engagement shoot is the smartest hour you'll spend before your wedding day. You get to meet the photographer in low-stakes conditions, see how you both photograph as a couple, and end up with a set of images for save-the-dates, social, and the wedding website.
How I shoot
An hour at golden hour, one location, no posing. I direct only as much as needed — usually 'walk that way, look at each other, talk about anything except this camera'. The images that come out of that hour are usually better than half the wedding-day formals.
Who it's for
Couples 3–6 months out from a wedding. Surprise-proposal coverage. Long-distance couples meeting in Edinburgh for a weekend. Anyone who wants a serious set of couple portraits without the wedding-day pressure.

About engagements.
Where's the best Edinburgh engagement shoot location?
Calton Hill at sunrise, Dean Village at any hour, the Royal Botanic Garden Glasshouses, or the Old Town closes at blue hour. I'll suggest based on your colour palette and what you're wearing.
Do you cover surprise proposals?
Yes — I work from a distance with a long lens, capture the moment, and then come over for the celebration portraits. Tell me your location and timing and I'll plan around it.
What should we wear?
Anything you'd happily wear out for dinner. Avoid patterns that fight the camera and bright whites. I'll send a wardrobe note before the shoot.
