The work
A family portrait is one of the only purchases that actively appreciates with time. The single best gift any grown family can give itself is an annual sitting — same photographer, same studio, same wall. Ten years in, you have a record nothing else can replace.
How I shoot
I shoot families on location far more often than in studio — your garden, the Botanics, a familiar park. Kids behave better in places they recognise. I work fast, I keep the session short, and I shoot through the noise rather than waiting for everyone to line up.

What's the best age for kids in a family shoot?
Any age, but the easiest is 3+ — old enough to follow direction, young enough to still be themselves. For babies and toddlers I plan the shoot around their nap and feed schedule, not the other way round.
Do you photograph in our home?
Yes — in-home family shoots are some of my favourite work. Natural light, real surroundings, no pretence.
How many people can be in a family portrait?
I've shot family groups of 40+ across the Botanics lawn. There's no upper limit; the planning gets tighter, that's all.
