Dundee Headshot Photographer

Ross Nixon Photography provides professional headshots in Dundee for corporate, creative and business clients. Each session focuses on clean, editorial lighting to produce high-end portraits suitable for LinkedIn, press and updated company branding.

Modern business requires a visual identity that moves beyond the dated, grey-backdrop studio portraits of the past. As a professional photographer working across Dundee, I provide headshots that reflect individual personality while maintaining a sharp professional edge. Whether you are a sole trader needing a single refreshed image for a profile, or a firm looking to ensure consistency across a large team, the approach remains the same: efficient, directed and technically precise. I work on-site at your offices or at specific locations around the city to ensure the background context fits your brand. My style avoids the over-processed look, focusing instead on natural skin tones and composition that communicates competence and approachability without unnecessary artifice.

What's included

Every Dundee headshot commission is designed to be straightforward and comprehensive. A standard session includes a pre-shoot consultation via email or phone to discuss the intended use of the images and any specific brand guidelines. This ensures the lighting and styling align with your existing digital presence. During the shoot, I provide active direction to help subjects feel comfortable and project the right image. Post-session, I provide a private online gallery where you can review the proofs and select your preferred images. Each chosen photograph undergoes professional retouching to remove temporary blemishes and balance exposure while keeping the final result authentic. The high-resolution digital files are delivered via a secure download link, including both full-sized versions for print and web-optimised crops for immediate use on LinkedIn and social media profiles. All pricing is transparent with no hidden licensing fees for standard commercial use. For larger corporate teams, I offer a refined workflow that ensures every staff member receives the same level of attention, resulting in a cohesive set of images for your company website 'About Us' page.

How it works

The process begins with a booking for a specific date and time. If we are shooting at your Dundee premises, I arrive early to scout the building for the best light and professional backgrounds. I bring all necessary portable lighting equipment, meaning we can turn a boardroom or an office breakout area into a functional studio space with minimal disruption to your working day. Each person usually spends fifteen to twenty minutes in front of the lens. This is enough time to try a few different angles and expressions without taking them away from their desk for too long. Once the shoot is finished, the editing process takes approximately five working days. You will receive an invitation to an online proofing gallery. Once you have made your final selections, the finished files are delivered digitally in both colour and black and white if requested, ready for use across all platforms.

Local detail

Working in Dundee offers a diverse range of backdrops for headshots that go beyond the standard office wall. For creative and tech sectors based around Seabraes or the District 10 containers, an industrial or modern architectural background often works better than a traditional studio set. Many clients prefer an environmental portrait that places them within the context of Dundee’s regenerating landscape. Areas around the V&A and the waterfront provide clean lines and interesting textures for outdoor headshots, provided the weather is cooperative. Alternatively, for those in the legal or financial sectors based near the High Court or around the traditional workspaces in the West End, a more classic approach with shallow depth of field against historic stone can be very effective. I am familiar with the layout of the University of Dundee and Abertay campuses for academic staff portraits, and I understand the logistical requirements of working within the busy Dundee Technology Park. Regardless of the location, I handle all the technical setups so you can focus on representing your business.

Questions people ask

What should I wear for my headshot session?
Select clothing that reflects your professional role. Solid colours usually work better than busy patterns which can be distracting. Ensure your clothes are well-fitted and ironed. For a traditional corporate look, a suit or blazer is standard, while a smart-casual approach works well for creative industries. I recommend avoiding very bright neon colours as they can reflect awkwardly onto the skin under studio lights.
Can you take headshots at our company office in Dundee?
Yes, most of my corporate work is done on-site. I bring a portable lighting setup and can work in relatively small spaces. This is the most efficient way to photograph multiple team members while ensuring they remain available for their daily tasks. Using your actual workspace as a backdrop also helps to create a more authentic, brand-specific look for your website and marketing materials.
How long does a headshot session take?
A session for an individual usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. For larger teams, I can work to a tighter schedule, often allocating 15 to 20 minutes per person. This allows enough time for the subject to settle in and for us to capture a variety of shots. I prioritise efficiency to ensure that the process is professional and does not interfere with your business operations.
Do you provide the raw unedited files?
I do not supply raw files. Part of the service is the professional selection and editing of the best images. Raw files are an unfinished product and do not represent the final quality of my work. You will receive high-resolution, fully processed JPEGs that have been colour corrected and retouched to a professional standard, suitable for all commercial and personal uses.
How quickly will I receive my photos?
You will typically receive a link to your online proofing gallery within 48 hours of the shoot. Once you have selected your final images for retouching, the finished high-resolution files are delivered within five working days. If you have an urgent deadline for a press release or a new website launch, please let me know in advance and I will do my best to accommodate a faster turnaround.
