Stirling Food Photographer
Ross Nixon Photography provides editorial food and beverage imagery for businesses across Stirling and Central Scotland. This service delivers high-end visual content designed for menus, social media, and commercial marketing campaigns.
The food and hospitality scene in Stirling requires more than just snapshots. As an editorial photographer, I work with local restaurants, gastropubs, and artisan producers to create high-quality images that reflect the quality of their craft. Whether you are operating a busy kitchen near the castle or a boutique distillery on the outskirts of the city, my approach focuses on natural light, texture, and honest presentation. I avoid over-processed styles, preferring an aesthetic that feels authentic to the dining experience. My goal is to provide a versatile library of images that work across printed menus, digital ordering platforms, and social media channels, ensuring your brand maintains a consistent and professional visual standard that attracts customers and builds trust.

Questions people ask
- How many dishes can we photograph in a half-day?
- In a half-day session, we typically cover 10 to 15 dishes. This allows enough time for careful styling and lighting adjustments for each plate. If you require hero shots that involve complex set styling or lifestyle elements with models, the number of dishes may be lower to ensure the quality of every frame meets editorial standards.
- Do you provide props and backgrounds?
- I carry a selection of neutral backgrounds and basic styling tools. However, for the most authentic results, I recommend using your restaurant's own tables, linens, and crockery. This ensures the photos look like they were taken in your venue, which is vital for building customer expectations. If a specific themed prop is required, we can discuss this during the planning stage.
- Can you shoot while the restaurant is open?
- It is possible, but I strongly recommend scheduling the shoot during closed hours or a quiet morning window. This gives us full control over the space, prevents customers from being disturbed by lighting equipment, and allows the kitchen staff to focus on plating for the camera rather than rushed orders. Working in a quiet environment always results in a higher standard of final imagery.
- Who owns the copyright to the food images?
- As the creator, Ross Nixon Photography retains the copyright, but you are granted an extensive commercial usage licence. This allows you to use the images for any marketing purpose, including print, web, social media, and third-party delivery apps. There are no time limits or geographic restrictions on this licence, giving you total freedom to use the assets to grow your Stirling business.
- Do you offer drinks and cocktail photography too?
- Yes, beverage photography is a core part of my service. Shooting glass and liquid requires specific lighting techniques to avoid unwanted reflections and to show the clarity of the drink. I can capture your full cocktail menu, wine list, or coffee offerings alongside your food menu to provide a complete visual package for your establishment.
