Edinburgh Event Photographer
Ross Nixon Photography provides straightforward, high-end event coverage in Edinburgh. From technical conferences to intimate dinners, we deliver editorial-quality images with zero fuss.
I cover events across Edinburgh for clients who value a clean, editorial look over typical corporate snaps. If you are hosting a multi-day conference at the EICC or a private dinner at a boutique hotel in the New Town, you need a photographer who knows how to work a room without getting in the way. I have spent years shooting everything from tech summits to brand launches in this city. I do not do staged, awkward group photos unless you specifically ask for them. Instead, I focus on the genuine atmosphere, the speakers in action, and the networking that actually happens between the slides. My job is to give you a bank of images that make your event look as professional as it felt in person.

Questions people ask
- How quickly can I get the photos?
- For most Edinburgh events, I provide a full digital gallery within three working days. If you are running a live social media campaign or need to send a shot to the press immediately, I can deliver a small selection of edited 'hero' images on the same day. Please mention this when booking so I can factor the live editing time into the schedule.
- Do you charge extra for travel within Edinburgh?
- No. Travel within the Edinburgh city bypass is included in my standard rates. If your event is further afield, such as in East Lothian, Fife, or West Lothian, I charge a small mileage fee to cover the extra time and fuel. I am always transparent about these costs upfront so there are no surprises on the final invoice.
- Can you shoot in low-light venues?
- Yes. Many of Edinburgh's best venues, like the caves in the Old Town or historic wood-panelled dining rooms, are notoriously dark. I use high-end, full-frame cameras and fast lenses specifically designed for these conditions. This allows me to capture the atmosphere accurately without relying on harsh on-camera flash which can ruin the mood and distract your guests.
- What happens if the event runs over time?
- I understand that live events rarely run exactly to the minute. If things are lagging behind and you need me to stay longer to catch the final keynote or the awards presentation, I am usually happy to do so. I charge an agreed hourly rate for any overtime, which we can discuss on the day to ensure you get the coverage you need.
- Are you insured for public events?
- Absolutely. I carry full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Many venues in Edinburgh, particularly those managed by the Council or Historic Environment Scotland, require proof of insurance before photographers are allowed on-site. I can provide my insurance certificates to your venue coordinator or events team well in advance of the start date.
