Edinburgh Brand Photographer
Ross Nixon Photography provides editorial brand photography in Edinburgh, specialising in natural portraits, workspace content, and product imagery for local businesses and independent professionals.
I produce clean, editorial brand photography for businesses across Edinburgh. Most commercial photography I see is over-processed or looks like stock imagery. My approach is different. I treat a brand shoot like an editorial assignment, focusing on the people, the space, and the actual work being done. Whether you are based in a creative studio in Leith or a professional office in the West End, you need images that communicate who you are without the typical corporate polish that feels fake. I work with solo founders, small teams, and established brands to build a library of high-quality assets. We will cover your workspace, your process, and natural portraits that do not look like traditional stiff headshots.

Questions people ask
- What should I wear for a brand shoot?
- Wear what you actually wear to work. If your brand is relaxed, a suit will look forced. I recommend bringing a few options, focusing on solid colours and avoiding small patterns that cause digital distortion in photos. We can swap layers like jackets or jumpers to get different looks from one session without needing a full wardrobe change every twenty minutes.
- How long does the shoot take?
- A standard brand session is usually a half-day, which is roughly three to four hours. This is enough time to cover portraits, some process shots, and your environment without it becoming a marathon. If you have a larger team or multiple locations across Edinburgh, a full-day session is better to ensure we are not rushing and the quality remains high throughout.
- Do you offer headshots separately?
- Yes, I provide standalone headshot sessions starting from £195 if you only need a single updated portrait for LinkedIn or your 'About' page. However, most businesses find that a full brand session offers better value because it provides a much wider variety of content for social media and marketing materials rather than just one head-and-shoulders crop.
- Will I own the copyright to the images?
- As the photographer, I retain the copyright, but you are granted a comprehensive commercial licence. This means you can use the images for your website, social media, printed marketing, and PR indefinitely without paying additional royalties. You cannot sell the images to third parties or stock agencies, but for all standard business promotion, you have full freedom to use them as you wish.
- Can you shoot in my small office?
- Absolutely. I am used to working in tight Edinburgh offices and studios. I use wide-angle lenses and portable lighting to make the most of small spaces. If your office really isn't suitable, we can discuss hiring a local studio or using a public space that fits your brand. Often, the 'scruffier' parts of a working studio make for more interesting editorial shots.
