How are wedding photos delivered?

Ross Nixon Photography delivers wedding images via a secure online gallery featuring high-resolution downloads and an integrated print store. All clients receive a full licence for personal use and can share the link directly with family and guests.

I deliver your finished wedding photographs through a private, password-protected online gallery system. This is the industry standard for professional photographers today because it ensures your images are preserved in high resolution and made accessible from any device. Within six to eight weeks of your wedding date, you receive an email containing a link and a unique download pin. This allows you to save individual images or the entire collection directly to your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Every image is edited by me personally in my Edinburgh studio to ensure colour consistency and sharp detail. The gallery also includes a professional print laboratory connection, allowing you to order physical products that are delivered directly to your door without further administrative back-and-forth.

What's included

Your final delivery consists of a comprehensive collection of images, typically ranging from 400 to 600 frames for a full-day booking. Every file is provided in high-resolution JPEG format, which is suitable for large-scale printing, as well as web-sized versions optimized for sharing on social media or via email. I do not provide raw, unedited files; my workflow involves meticulous post-processing to ensure each shot reflects the editorial style you see in my portfolio. The delivery includes a full personal usage licence. This means you have the legal right to print your photos at any lab of your choice and share them online without watermarks or additional fees. The online gallery stays active for at least twelve months, giving you ample time to backup your files to your own hard drives and cloud storage. Most clients find the interface intuitive, as it allows for 'favouriting' specific images to create a shortlist for an album or physical prints. Security is a priority, and the gallery is hosted on redundant servers to prevent data loss.

How it works

The process begins shortly after your wedding day with a small selection of 'preview' shots sent within 48 hours. These allow you to share a professional glimpse of the day immediately. Following this, I work through the complete set of images. Once the edit is finished, I upload the high-resolution files to the gallery software. You will receive an automated email with your login details. Once you enter the gallery, you can browse through different sets, such as 'Ceremony', 'Portraits', and 'Speeches'. You can share this link with guests, who can also download images if you choose to enable that setting. If your package includes a USB, this is posted via Royal Mail Tracked delivery shortly after the digital gallery goes live. The USB contains the exact same high-resolution files as the online version, serving as a physical backup for your archives.

Local detail

I manage all post-production from my base in Edinburgh, ensuring that the light and atmosphere captured at Scottish venues—whether the stone textures of a venue on the Royal Mile or the unpredictable weather at a Loch Lomond estate—are accurately represented in the final edit. When you receive your gallery, you are seeing work that has been tailored to the specific environment of your wedding. Local clients often appreciate that should they wish to discuss an album design or specific print finishes, I am available for meetings in the city to look at physical samples of Italian-made leather books or fine-art papers. Having a photographer who understands the local printing landscape means I can recommend specific labs in Scotland for bespoke framing if you prefer not to use the integrated gallery store. I stay updated on the latest delivery technologies to ensure that even if you are accessing your gallery from a remote part of the Highlands with limited bandwidth, the mobile-optimised interface functions correctly without lag or file corruption.

Questions people ask

Do I get the high-resolution files?
Yes, every wedding package includes the high-resolution digital files as standard. These are not watermarked and are suitable for printing at any size. You also receive web-optimised versions of the same images for easier sharing on mobile devices and social media platforms, ensuring your photos look their best regardless of the screen they are viewed on.
How long does it take to get the photos?
I provide a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding so you have images to share immediately. The full, edited collection is typically delivered within six to eight weeks. During peak summer months, this timeline may shift slightly, but I keep all clients updated on the progress of their edit via email.
Can my family download the photos for free?
Yes, you have the option to allow guests and family members to download images directly from the gallery at no extra cost. You can also password-protect specific folders if there are certain images you wish to keep private. The gallery interface makes it simple for relatives to order their own professional prints if they prefer not to handle the printing themselves.
Do you provide a USB drive?
A physical USB drive is included in my full-day wedding packages. While the digital gallery is the fastest and most efficient way to receive and share your images, having a physical backup is a sensible precaution. For shorter bookings or elopements, the USB can be added as an optional extra, though the digital download provides identical file quality.
How long will my online gallery stay active?
Your gallery remains live and accessible for at least 12 months from the date of delivery. I recommend that all clients download their full collection and back it up to at least two different locations, such as an external hard drive and a cloud storage service like Dropbox or Google Drive, for long-term preservation.
